Ethiopia- A country of Interest!

Hello guys,welcome again to know some interesting facts from every corners of the world.Today we will know something about Ethiopia.

One of the most beautiful nations of Africa is Ethiopia.The official name of the nation is Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.The population of Ethiopia being 102 million, Ethiopia stands in the rank of 2nd most densely populated nation in the African continent.The capital of Ethiopia is  Addis Ababa.For now let's begin with the stuff many of us didn't know before!
1> The Ethiopian Calendar- Generally,we use a  12 months calendar worldwide but in Ethiopia ,a 13 months calender is followed.So, the Ethiopian calendar runs 7 years back from the normal calendar.In Ethiopia the year running at present is 2011.The 13th month of Ethiopia is only of 5 days generally but in the case of leap year,it's of 6 days.The New Year's day is also celebrated on 11th September in Ethiopia. Isn't it interesting?

2> The Birth of Coffee - Well guys many of us start our morning by taking a sip of the hot Coffee to boost ourselves throughout the day.But this favourite drink was invented accidentally in Ethiopia by a man named Kaldi.He was a shepherd and once his goats accidentally ate the fruits of the coffee plants while grazing.After that he noticed that his goats were more energetic and lively! Thus he tried those frits for himself and thus got positive results which led to the invention of coffee.Coffee helps to revive any lazy person also nowadays.So MNCs allow tea or coffee break to the employees to increase productivity with a little investment!!

3> Shaved Heads of Brides - The people of the Burona clan of Ethiopia shave the heads of their daughters to find a perfect groom for marriage! It is a strange rule they follow as indication to grooms that the girl is willing to get married !After marriage they can again grow their hair as they wish!

4> The Bridal Gown- Ethiopian women use a bridal gown made up of goat skin and to look beautiful they apply butter on their skin as a moisturizer!

It sounds a li'l bit freaky right?
